Place de Catlogne, Green space in Paris in honour of Catalogne.

This new urban forest, designed by renowned architect Ricardo Bofill, boasts over 470 trees, offering a haven of tranquility within the bustling Parisian cityscape. But Place de la Catalogne serves as more than just a green space. It’s a prime showcase for Catalan culture and products, strategically located in France, a major European import hub.

To celebrate the inauguration, a festive gastronomic event was held, introducing attendees to Catalonia’s candidacy as World Gastronomy Region for 2025. The event featured delectable tastings of various Catalan specialties, including cured meats (“embotits”), cheeses, sweet treats and a selection of regional wines, expertly presented by Parisian-based Catalan sommelier Judith Cercós.

The event wasn’t just about food. It was a vibrant display of Catalan culture, featuring a captivating performance by the Geperuts de París and Moixiganguers d’Igualada castellers groups – human tower builders. Live music by the Cat Klezmer Trio and a gardening workshop rounded out the festivities.

Catalonia, top supplier to europe and beyond: This celebration highlights the growing importance of Catalonia as a supplier of premium food and beverage products to the European market and beyond. France, for instance, is a strategic partner, ranking as the top European buyer of Catalan agri-food products, accounting for a significant 16.73% of total international exports in 2022.

Strong ties with european importers: This success can be attributed to several factors. The geographical proximity between Catalonia and France fosters close collaboration between companies, facilitating trade agreements and distribution channels that streamline the entry of Catalan products into the French market.

Catalan products have earned a well-deserved reputation for exceptional quality and authenticity among European importers. This includes a diverse range of offerings, from cured meats and cheeses to wines, olive oils, and fresh produce like fruits and vegetables. French consumers, known for their discerning palates, particularly appreciate the gourmet and high-quality nature of Catalan products.

Importers seeking to diversify their product portfolio with unique and delectable offerings from Spain and Europe, particularly Catalonia, are encouraged to explore the vast potential this region offers.
