Terra Remota was founded in 1999 when the Bournazeau Florensa family acquired a property in the far northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, in the Alt Empordà area (Girona), within the Empordà Wine Appellation. The estate is located at the heart of a forested area, protected from the northern Tramuntana wind by the Albera Massif. Situated approximately 15 km from the Mediterranean Sea, at 140 meters above sea level, over granitic soil, it occupies a solitary, captivating spot that seems far removed from the rest of the world. This explains the name Terra Remota has given to its project.
From its inception, Terra Remota has displayed a marked sensitivity towards the territory it occupies and coherence in the way it integrates into the surrounding natural landscape.
All of this constitutes the backbone of Terra Remota’s philosophy and influences its actions in every sense.
