Join us for an exquisite culinary experience as we delve into the heart of Catalan cuisine.

Renowned for her expertise and passion for authentic flavors, Chef Alba Sunyer will be leading this exclusive masterclass on the art of pa amb tomàquet at the Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan. Immerse yourself in the culinary traditions of Catalonia and learn the complexities of creating the perfect pa amb tomàquet. Chef Alba, with her culinary prowess, will guide participants through the step-by-step process, sharing insights, tips, and the cultural significance behind this beloved Catalan dish.

4:30PM – Official Opening:
By Chef. Brian R. Beland, representative of the International Cuisine Course in the Culinary Arts Program at Schoolcraft College.

4:35 PM – Introduction to the Taste of Catalonia:
An introduction to the rich culinary tradition of Catalonia, this masterclass will provide a glimpse into the rich gastronomic heritage of the region.

5:00 PM – Catalan Tomato Bread Workshop by Chef Alba Sunyer:
An interactive session will take place in the art of crafting the iconic “Pa Amb Tomàquet” led by Chef Alba Sunyer, who not only shares her culinary expertise but also reveals the intricate tips and secrets behind perfecting this beloved Catalan dish.

The workshop concludes with a practical session where all the attending chefs will create their own masterpiece, turning this activity into a delightful exploration of tradition, flavors and techniques.

6:00PM – Closing of the culinary masterclass

Chef, writer and gastronomic promoter

Alba Sunyer, born in Sullent (Barcelona), learned the art of authentic Catalan cooking from her mother at a young age. Pursuing her dream, she left Catalonia to become a chef and founded The Mediterranean Corner in South Carolina in order to share her passion with the American people offering Catalan culinary experiences to clients like BMW, Michelin and Clemson University.
She now lives in Detroit, Michigan, where she helps Catalan companies succeed in the United States.
She also authored the acclaimed book “The Catalan Table”.
