“CAVA WITH SOUL CELLER KRIPTA was founded in 1955 by AGUSTÍ TORELLÓ MATA. He produced the first 500 bottles of cava, beginning a trajectory that will make him, one of the best winemakers in Spain. In 1978 he created CAVA KRIPTA, the icon of the winery, one of the best sparkling wines in the world. Directed now by his children – ÀLEX and GEMMA TORELLÓ – the Cellar produce every year 500.000 bottles of Cava (all of them millessimés) and 120.000 bottles of wine DO Penedès. It is present today in more than 30 countries around the world.
ORIGIN AND SUSTAINABILITY: D.O. CAVA and D.O. PENEDÈS: 150 organic plots located in the Cava region Valls d’Anoia-Foix (Barcelona County). 100% harvested by hand, respecting the cycle of the plant and its optimal moment of ripening.
100% INDIGENOUS VARIETIES, unique in the world: Macabeu, Xarel·lo and Parellada for white wines, and Trepat for the rosé. They represent the expression of the origin, perfectly adapted to the climate and the soil. It is the only way to produce high quality, and particular wines with a special personality.
The certification of the D.O. CAVA as INTEGRAL PRODUCER guarantees that all our wines are vinified in the cellar. Each variety ferments with the yeasts that are selected every year in our vineyards and only vegetable fining agents of vegan certification are used during the process.
PREMIUM CAVAS: GUARDA SUPERIOR – RESERVA, with a minimum of 3 years aging in the bottle and GRAN RESERVA from 4 to 10 years aging. Each bottle indicates the disgorging date: the moment when the lees are removed, and the final cork is placed. This is the end of the aging in the cellar.”
