Catalonia strengthens international presence with over 3,000 B2B meetings at the Catalan Food Business Forum 2024

The second edition of the Catalan Food Business Forum brought together more than 90 Catalan food companies and over 100 international importers from 23 strategic markets for two days of intensive B2B meetings in Barcelona. Held on June 4 and 5 and organised by Prodeca, the event has further established itself as one of Catalonia’s key international trade platforms for the agri-food sector.

With more than 3,000 pre-scheduled meetings, the forum offered a highly targeted and result-driven environment, enabling Catalan companies to establish direct contact with buyers from strategic international markets—many of which are typically difficult to access individually. The two-day format concentrated a high volume of commercial activity into a short period, helping to participate companies make the most of their time and connect with high-potential partners.

The selected importers came from strategic markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, China, and the United Arab Emirates, among others. The diversity of their origin allowed Catalan companies to explore new business opportunities in both mature and emerging markets, while adapting their offer to international trends and consumer demands.

On June 4, the forum welcomed the institutional visit of Òscar Ordeig, Catalonia’s Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food. In his address to the international guests, he highlighted the strategic importance of the Catalan agri-food sector—the region’s leading economic industry—and underlined innovation, sustainability and quality as key differentiators of Catalan products. He also encouraged local companies to strengthen their internationalisation strategies as a crucial path to long-term growth and competitiveness.
