The Government of Catalonia, through PRODECA and the Catalan Food brand, is organizing the participation of Catalan fruit companies at Fruit Logistica 2025, held in Berlin from February 5-7. Around 20 Catalan companies and entities will attend, with 11 exhibiting at the Catalunya pavilion, highlighting the region’s excellence in fresh produce and its commitment to sustainable, high-quality agriculture.
To support the sector, Catalan Minister of Agriculture Òscar Ordeig, alongside PRODECA’s managing director Dèlia Perpinyà and Catalonia’s Government Delegate in Germany Marie Kapretz, will visit the fair. Their agenda includes key meetings to strengthen international business ties and reinforce Catalonia’s position as a trusted supplier of premium fruit.

Catalonia: A European Leader in Quality Fruit Production
Catalonia is one of Europe’s top fruit producers, harvesting nearly one million tons annually under strict quality and sustainability standards. The region leads Spain in sweet fruit production, with apples and pears representing over 50% of national output, and stone fruits like peaches and nectarines accounting for 30-35% of Spain’s total. Over 90% of Catalan fruit is sold fresh, meeting the highest demands of international markets.
The fruit and vegetable sector is Catalonia’s third-largest agri-food export industry. In 2024 (Jan-Nov), the region exported 761,000 tons of fruit, worth nearly €1.04 billion, a 3.26% increase in value compared to 2023. Catalonia’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its 374 regular fruit exporters, making up 20% of Spain’s total.
Germany: The Top Market for Catalan Food
Catalonia exports fruit to 198 countries, with the EU being its main market (85% of exports). Germany is the top destination, followed by France and Italy. Catalan peaches, nectarines, apples, and pears are highly valued for their taste, traceability, and food safety, making them a benchmark in premium fresh produce.
Fruit Logistica 2025 offers a strategic platform to showcase Catalonia’s leadership in quality fruit production, reinforcing the Catalan Food brand’s global reputation for excellence and sustainability.
